Dear Friends,

Waiting in Anticipation!

Whether we like it or not, waiting is a part of life. Our waiting for our new Incumbent will recede into a memory once September arrives. The hardest waiting in our world are those who suffer through war and wait and long for peace.

Jesus waited 30 years before he was called to Baptism and received the Holy Spirit to lead and guide Him through his years of Ministry. Jesus waited in the wilderness while he discerned how he should conduct his ministry. Time and time again we see that he waited on God in prayer taking himself to places of quiet.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered and was buried and on the third day he rose again. In our Christian year our Creeds continue to come to life. We have now come to the 6th Sunday of Easter which will bring us in this coming week to His Ascension into Heaven in order to sit at the right hand of his Father where he intercedes for us.

The Ascension is a major celebration because if Jesus had not Ascended then we would not have received the Holy Spirit the Comforter, the Lord, the giver of Life. We will have a service on Thursday evening at 7.30pm, Ascension Day, and I pray that many of us will gather for this celebration. Like the disciples we need to acknowledge Jesus’ return to His Father and then take ourselves into another place of waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

In our faith Journeys may we wait on God to equip us for the tasks of each day, each week, each month. May the waiting enrich our lives and bring us love, joy and peace.

Yours in Christ, Daphne
