Dear Friends,

I’m very happy pottering in my garden. It’s not big but there’s enough to keep me busy. Some beds with shrubs, a couple of veg plots (beans and potatoes), an apple tree, some tomatoes in growbags, flowers in pots. It’s raining (again) and I can almost hear the lawn groan with relief – it’s green again instead of a parched, brown.

The symbol for this year’s Season of Creation (https://seasonofcreation.org/) is “The Garden of Creation” and shows a white dove, a symbol of peace and new life, flying over a tree. It flies from a barren, dry landscape to somewhere green and flourishing. We are reminded that humanity was called to tend a garden. We are also called to be peacemakers. We might not have our own garden, but we are encouraged to do what we can to make peace with the sacred gift that is God’s Creation, to be the welcome rain that starts the garden grow again.

May the Spirit be poured upon us so we can work together for peace with Creation.

Yours, from the garden,
Wendy

A Prayer for Creation Season 2025 from A Rocha. We’ll be starting our services with this prayer and lighting our eco-candle.

Creating God,
your name is written on every leaf, every bird, every river, every stone, every living being.
We praise and worship you for the magnificence of your creation.
Make us attentive to the wounds of the earth and willing to work for the healing of the whole creation,
through Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.
Amen.
