Dear Friends,

Throughout the Church’s year we are remembering. So in this year we have remembered the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed which expresses the faith in which we live our Christian lives. At our Festivals we remember Christ’s birth at Christmas and his death and Resurrection at Easter followed by his return to his Father at Ascensiontide. Then by the events of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit

Last weekend we remembered “All Saints” both those whom we refer to as Saints such as St. Nicolas and the Apostles, and all who have lived this life and died. This gave us the opportunity to remember our Loved Ones both Family and Friends.

Our nation remembered Guy Fawkes night when the plot to burn down the Houses of Parliament was defeated. Where I lived I had a front line view of fireworks from Crossfields playing fields.

This weekend and on the 11th November we remember all who have lost their lives to defend their country or to bring justice and peace to other countries. Let us also remember those of other nations who have fought alongside us. John and I will not forget visiting the military cemeteries in Myanmar (Burma) and when we visited the most Northern Diocese of Madagascar. Many of you will have visited cemeteries in Europe.

In our times of remembering we can be assured of God’s presence. The opportunity for further remembering is offered in our time of Breathspace next Saturday morning in Church. On the seventh day God rested from all that he had done. We are invited to a place of wonder and rest as we sit with God and be restored.

In Christ, Daphne
