Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
Christenings
Christenings, also known as baptisms, we love them. It’s a special thing to welcome a new person, baby or adult, into the church family. We believe we are all precious to God and at baptism we make a decision to start on a journey of faith. For babies and children, parents and godparents are speaking on their behalf and St Nicolas will support you in this.
Christening services at St Nicolas take place either during our Sunday morning 10 o’clock service or in a special ceremony on Sunday afternoons.
Weddings
If you are visiting this page because you are planning your wedding – congratulations!
St Nicolas is a great place to celebrate a wedding and it will be our pleasure to work with you to arrange your special day.
If you live in the parish but are getting married in another Church of England church, we will be delighted to read your banns at St Nicolas.
Funerals
With you, every step of the way
A funeral marks the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to grieve, give thanks for the life lived, and commend the person into God’s care.
Anyone can have a funeral service at St Nicolas as their local parish church, whether they attended church or not. Some people prefer a service to be held in a crematorium. Whatever your choice, St Nicolas Church is there to support you and tailor the service to include the music, readings and tributes that you choose.
